Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III and Curtis Cutler, Office of Veterans Affairs to Continue Momentum of New Veterans Initiative

Camp Springs, MD – At the May Commission for Veterans Meeting, Curtis Cutler, Veterans Coordinator for the Prince George’s County Department of Family Services, delivered an impassioned Veterans address that laid out the office's 2017 agenda for the Prince George’s County Veterans Community.

The center-piece of his address focused on the Transition, Employment and Economic Empowerment (TEEE) initiative that his office is spearheading to ensure that our Veterans successfully transition out of the military and are positioned to be pillars of the community, leaders in the workplace, and empowered entrepreneurs. The TEEE is a truly public-private collaboration that aligns with County Executive Baker’s Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI) to strengthen our communities, and will serve as a catalyst to spur job creation, enhanced education and reduction in crime, the top three major drivers when attracting retail into the County.

The Commission for Veterans will once again host Mr. Cutler at the Department of Family Services, 6420 Allentown Road, Camp Springs, MD 20748 on Monday, June 5, 2017, 6:00PM – 7:30PM, where he will further expound on his TEEE implementation strategy to County Executive Rushern L. Baker, business leaders, veteran service organizations and elected officials.

According to the United States Department of Veteran Affairs, the projected number of veterans in Maryland in 2013 exceeded 443,000, with Prince George’s County accounting for over 62,000, the largest concentration of any county in the state. To that end, it becomes essential to ensure that the county has the necessary support infrastructure and programs in place that improve economic opportunities for transitioning service members, Veterans and their families where they are, when they need it.

Everyone is welcome! So please make plans to come out in support of the OVA and the veteran community on Monday, June 5, 2017.
